Due to rotating machinery fault sources mainly come from the rotor components, it is very significant to study the application on fault diagnosis of rotor system. While at present the method to diagnose the rotor fault mainly depends on the classical spectral analysis, but the classical spectral method obtained by the single probe are unable to reveal the correlation between the X and Y motions. It’s hard to accurately judge the rotor fault type. Based on the above problems, this paper studies the theory of the full spectrum analysis and operating deflection shapes technology. The effectiveness of the methods is proved by the data obtained by the simulation and the experiment.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) An improved method called the full spectrum analysis technology is studied. The theory calculation formula of the composite signal is deduced. In this paper, ZT- 3 rotor test rig of rotating subsystem of the typical fault simulation experiment is carried out. The full spectrum characteristics of the imbalance, misalignment and the loose faults have been analyzed on the basis of collecting the displacement signal. The effectiveness of the method is proved through the comparison with the classical spectral analysis, orbitals as well as the full spectrum analysis technology.(2) The basic theory of ODS and the rotor fault diagnosis method are studied. On the basis of theory calculation formula, two numerical comparison of a machine’s ODS called SCC and SPD are introduced. In this paper ZT- 3 rotor test rig of rotating subsystem of the typical fault simulation experiments such as imbalance and misalignment experiments are carried out. The SCC and SPD could be used to detect lesser changes in machine responses, providing early detection of impending fault conditions.(3) Rotor fault signal analysis software is developed based on the VC++ Graphical User Interface. Each function module is designed in detail. By choosing simple and practical controls, using structured programming, each function of the algorithm is implemented. The main function modules of the software are tested in simulation, and the effectiveness of the algorithm and the technical utility of the software are verified.
