Automated Mechanical Transmission(AMT) has many advantages, such as simple structure, high efficiency, low manufacturing cost and technological similarity with the manual transmission, but also has the inherent flaw of torque interruption during shift process. Recently, researchers at home and abroad aim for eliminating torque interruption through structure innovation to improve the shift quality of AMT. This paper is focused on a new type AMT which is combined planetary mechanism with traditional automated manual transmission, develops testing-control system and carries out performance experiment for the novel AMT prototype. The main works are stated as follow:① The structural characteristics and operating principle of the novel automated manual transmission are analyzed. The startup and shift process for the proposed AMT are throughly studied, and the shift process is divided into "DCT" and "AMT" shift mode.② A bench test system for the novel AMT is built. The operating principle of the shift actuator is analyzed. A testing-control system based on d SPACE hardware is designed and the real-time simulation model for control system of the novel AMT is established, which is the foundation for data acquisition and auto-control of test object.③ The response characteristics of actuators of brake and clutch to control signal are analyzed. An engine coordinated control strategy based on CAN bus during shift process is proposed. Based on the previous works, the auto-control for startup and shift process are realized through coordinating each actuator.④ The startup and shift experiments are carried out. The reasonableness of the novel AMT structure and the validity and practicality of engine coordinated control strategy are verified, and the problems occurred during experiment are analyzed.
