As the climate changes deadly in recent years, there are more disasters. As one of them, the snow disaster has a serious influence in the energy, transportation, animal husbandry and the construction industry. Unfortunately, the research on this issue in China has just begun. There are lots of problems. Such as the shortage of data, bad equipment and low research level, etc. Therefore, with the advantage of located in Harbin in north China, A research on the measurements of snow density and distribution on roofs was made. Based on the data measured, a research on the method of wind tunnel test was made later. The main work of this paper is focused on the following fundamental aspects:Firstly, the main factors of snow density were determined. Based on the data measured in early years in Harbin, the function of snow density was got. Then sensitivity analysis was used to get the influence degree of each factor. Finally, with the results of prediction of the snow density data measured in 2010, the Scope of application of the function was got.Secondly, a comparison of codes of different countries was made. It showed that there are lots of differences in snow distribution on roofs. Based on the differences, some models were made. With the measurement of snow distribution on different models, the relationship between slope and snow distribution was got. Through the measurement of the building with parapet, the main snow distribution beside the parapet was found. Finally, a research on the snowdrift wind tunnel test was made. Before the test, the results of the measurement in Harbin and Sapporo were chosen as the prototype. Then, based on Kind’s simulation requirements, the wind tunnel experiments were carried out. With the comparison between the results of experiments and prototype, the Computational principle of experimental wind speed, upper bound of section blocking probability and the influence of the length of the particle pre-distribution were got.
