A sudden natural disaster caused by snowdrift will bring enormous threat to people's production and life.A large number of uneven snow loads will lead to the failure of building structure. The basic theories of snowdrift were summarized, after reviewing the relevant researches at home and abroad.Studies were carried out to find the characteristics of wind-induced snow distribution on the building roof through numerical simulation and wind tunnel test. The main contents are as following:1.A numerical simulation method is proposed which is based on Mixture two-phase flow model by FLUENT and quasi-static method,as well as considering the influence of snow-laying and angle of repose of snow. The proposed numerical simulation method is to be test by a model of two-dimensional flat roof from the literature.2.A numerical simulation of three-dimensional flat roof is conducted to analyze the snow distribution on the roof of the flat roof building and the influence of aspect ratio on the snow distribution.3.A numerical simulation of three-dimensional gable roofed building is analyze the snow distribution on the roof of the gable roofed building and the influence of aspect ratio on the snow distribution.4.From the perspective of geometry,start-up condition, dynamics and time, the similarity law is analyzed, which should be realized by wind tunnel test model.5.The quartz sand is adopted as the model of snow, and the wind tunnel test is carried out on three flat roofs with different aspect rate and two gabled roofs with different slopes. The characteristics of flow field under difference nominal wind velocity and angle of repose of quartz sand are measured, and the wind tunnel test of snow distributions on the roofs under several working conditions is carried out.The snow distribution characteristics under different nominal wind velocity are measured. The influence of different aspect rate on snow distribution of flat roofs and the influence of different slopes on snow distribution of gable roofs are analyzed.6.A comprehensive comparison is made, based on the numerical simulation results and the related results of wind tunnel test.
