It is an effective to assessment the condition of bridges by using the load test. However, the load test of bridge depends on long-time close of public traffic, complex procedure of test, vast cost etc. Therefore, it is essential to implement the rapid damage detection of media span and small span bridges considering continuous or short-time interruption of traffic flow.The recent research results and development trend of damage detection of bridges were summarized systematically, and the key issues of rapid damage detection of bridges were analyzed. Based on these works, the general frame of rapid damage detection of bridges based on quasi static load test was proposed in order to realize the damage detection of bridges under the continuous or short-time interruption of traffic.This study focused on rapid damage detection of bridges considering shorttime interruption of traffic. Rapid damage detection based on quasi static influence surface of bridge was proposed. The general frame of this method depended on damage detection based on novelty detection, and the measured quasi static influence line or influence surface was the data foundation of this method. Damage could be detected by using the approximate linear correlation of quasi static influence line or surface of some key cross section of bridges.With the numerical analysis, the measured quasi static influence line and influence surface of simple supported bridge and continuous bridge were simulated. The effectiveness of proposed method was demonstrated by considering different damage extent of bridge and different noise level of measured data. Based on above research results, the general frame of software system of rapid damage detection of bridges based on quasi static load test was built under MATLAB platform. Software module of rapid damage detection of bridges under short-time interruption of traffic was paid much attention in this study.
