Adaptive Front-lighting System, or AFS for short, can automatically adjust the light type and irradiation area according to the vehicle status and the road information, which improves the lighting conditions of the road and enhances safety driving at night. Currently it is one of the key areas of road traffic safety and active vehicle safety. Referring to the existing study of AFS, that is ignoring the changing state of the car body(roll, yaw and tire side-slip characteristics) influence on AFS headlamp angle and the time lag of AFS control system leading to the problem that light type of dynamic light distribution of AFS can’t meet the regulatory requirements, the steering control methods of AFS headlamp based on light type of dynamic light distribution is studied.First of all, the research status of AFS headlamps technology at home and abroad is introduced from the angle model and control method of AFS; on the basis of the comprehensive analysis of the roll characteristics, yawing, tire side-slip characteristics and light distribution, the AFS headlamps corner mathematical model about rolling and yawing characteristics is established with AFS headlamps of Toyota Previa as an object. Based on this, the lag of AFS headlamps angle model of driver intention based and the simulation model of AFS steering light distribution are established using matrix analysis software Matlab and imaging optics software Lucidshape. Then the relationship among the steering wheel angle rate, vehicle speed and the lag of vehicle AFS headlamps angle as well as the relationship between the cooperation of AFS headlamps corner and dynamic light distribution are analyzed respectively. According to the fuzzy predictive control principle, the steering control methods of AFS headlamp based on light type of dynamic light distribution is studied. Then, the fuzzy predictive control system of AFS based on light type of dynamic light distribution is designed and the corresponding simulation model is established using Matlab/Simulink, in addition, the control method is simulated and analyzed in the condition of double line. In order to verify the feasibility of control method, the steering control system of AFS headlamp based on light type of dynamic light distribution is established, Based on this platform, the fuzzy predictive control experiment of AFS is carried out under different working conditions(double line condition and acceleration condition), as well as the verification experiment of AFS light type of dynamic light distribution.
