Design Strategy Research Of University Libraries Adapted To Natural Lighting In Guangzhou

Ever since Chinese government attached great importance to higher education in the twenty-first century, a trend to construct college infrastructures has risen in China from the year 2000. A huge amount of colleges’ new campus has been built up during several years, which has accelerated the development of the research of educational architecture design in China. As the symbol of a school identity, university library stands at the peak leading the development of educational architecture design. The design principle of university library has been innovated, such as the idea of humanization and ecologicalization had been proposed in recent years. The quality of daylighting performance in university library determines the quality of experience of reading inside, which is also one of the key aspects that indicate building energy efficiency reflecting the innovational requirements of modern library design.The object of this research is been chosen at the daylighting design in the reading area of the university libraries in Guangzhou Province. Firstly, the main concept, influence factor, evaluation criterion, design principles and readers’ subjective feeling are mainly focused on. Based on the research above, relevant design strategies are proposed aiming at three levels of architecture design, which might provide reference and design guideline for the practice of modern university library design.This paper is composed of three sections and five chapters.The first section is raising the question in the first chapter of exordium which is mainly about the research background,research significance,definition of research scope,current researches all around the world, methods of research,etc.The second section is analysing of the question which includes the second chapter,the third chapter and the fifth chapter.It is mainly about the concept definition,design principle and judgement of the natural lighting design.It also analyses the architectural elements which have a compact on the natural lighting design of university library reading spaces.Finally,the paper states the analysis of natural lighting behavior model and psychological traits of the readers via the questionnaire survey.The third section,chapter five, is the solution to the question.Combined with the architectural elements influencing the natural lighting design of reading spaces and the analysis of the readers’ use, my paper proposed the architecture design strategies of the natural lighting design of library reading spaces in Guangdong Province based on the study of the excellent cases through out the global.
