With the rapid development of highways, the early damage of asphalt pavement, especially moisture damage, is more and more prominent. Early damage in asphalt pavement cannot be detected efficiently by current techniques. However, the Ground Penetration Radar technology can detect early damage in asphalt pavement effectively. This technology is non–destructive and continuous and it’s simple and easy to operate. It can be well applied to the pavement early damage detection and evaluation.Based on the current study of early moisture damage of asphalt pavement at home and abroad and on the ground penetrating radar technology, this article studies the internal damage of asphalt pavement in field and in laboratory using the air-coupled 2GHz frequency radar. The quantitative relations between valley amplitude of the radar waveform, wave valley amplitude ratio of the radar waveform and air void ratio, asphalt content have been build according to the data from 600 cored samples. The linear relationship between valley amplitude of the radar waveform, wave valley amplitude ratio of the radar waveform and air void, asphalt content have been build according to the data from laboratory test and the radar waveform. The linear relationship between rut depth and air void ratio have been build according to the data from RLWT. Preliminary evaluation of asphalt pavement water damage situation is evaluted by Dynamic Water Pressure Test and splitting fatigue test. After laboratory tests of fiber-reinforced rubber bitumen waterproof adhesive layer, a new rubber asphalt + fiber + gravel adhesive layer waterproof is proposed.Through these studies, the state of the moisture damage of asphalt pavement can be analysis according to the data from field radar detection and laboratory test(air void ratio, bitumen content). Then the author propose the conservation measure by studying the result of RLWT and splitting fatigue test.
