Lightning is a spectacular natural phenomenon but common, but due to its great energy, when lightning occurs, it will produce a great impact on the safety of human life and the normal operation of our daily life and production of telecommunications, electricity, construction and other industries. So it is necessary to research on the lightning activity and its prevention. For 110 k V power system, insulation coordination research also focus on the simulation and analysis of lighting overvoltage.With the rapid development of C hina’s economy, in order to reduce land occupancy rate of transmission line, tower double circuit transmission is increasingly widely used. The tower of double circuit transmission system is much higher than the general single-circuit transmission system, resulting in a greater possibility of being struck by lightning of tower double-circuit transmission system. Thus the simulation and analysis of double circuit transmission system has a very important and practical significance.Tower double-circuit transmission line is erected in the inlet line of canal 110 k V substation, and the type of the tall tower is SZT-35. Canal 110 k V substation as the research object, Simulated and analyzed the fight back lightning withstand level of transmission line and the lightning invasion wave overvoltage incoming the substation along the line through the electric transient graphical simulation software ATPDraw. The research focuses on the impact on flashover of the phases of double-circuit’s power frequency operating voltage and the case of lighting waves entered the substation from the double circuit of same tower simultaneously. Combined the simulation results with the insulation level and insulation margin of canal 110 k V substation, then proposed the insulation coordinated suggestions of lighting overvoltage’s prevention and treatment for the transmission line and internal substation of canal 110 k V substation.
