A Research On The Landscaping Of Stones In Front Of Whitewashed Wall In Chinese Traditional Garden And Its Application In Modern Garden

China’s traditional gardens have always followed the natural landscape garden roads to develop, forming its own unique landscape system with its national characteristics. There is a saying in China’s garden “if there were no stone, there would not be a garden”, which illustrates the important position and role of stone in the Chinese traditional gardens. This paper studies a commonly seen stone landscaping method in China’s traditional gardening-- stones in front of whitewashed wall, which is a demonstration of “taking the whitewashed wall as the paper, and stone as the pen”. It has a small scale, with flexible space forms. This paper describes for the first time stones in front of whitewashed wall landscaping and richer deep gardening thoughts and cultural connotations in the Chinese gardening, being a concentration of the essence of the traditional gardens. A detailed study of stones in front of whitewashed wall is a supplement and further development of the research content of the Chinese traditional gardens, especially making up for the lack of studies on landscape forming of stones in front of whitewashed wall gardening, to giving some hint to the design within a small environment in modern gardening, with a certain theoretical and practical significance.This paper firstly studies the historical development background of stones in front of whitewashed wall, related concepts, as well as the basic theory of its application in the landscape. It analyzes the elements of whitewashed wall marble landscapes, mainly as wall, rocks in the mountain, plants, and other elements, with a detailed analysis of their existing forms; then based on the basic theoretical studies, it analyzes and concludes that stones in front of whitewashed wall landscape mode be in the ways of the main scenery, the obstacle scenery, the frame scenery, the partition scenery, the borrowing scenery, the symmetric scenery, the adding scenery, etc; moreover, it makes a deep discussion of the stone arrangement techniques in the landscape designing process of wall painting and stone arrangement, finding out the commonly used stones for scenery making based on the different characteristics of the stone, and analyzing the conception of philosophy contained in the rock, as well as its corresponding techniques of the Chinese painting.at last, through a combinationof New Suzhou Museum, Huaqing hot spring "landscape Tang" and Chongqing Museum typical cases, the author analyzes the application of the stones in front of whitewashed wall in modern landscape creation, as well as the innovative exploration of it along with the development and changes of the era, which is also a heritage and recreation of the essence of the traditional Chinese garden culture, summing up the application significance and applying places of stones in front of whitewashed wall landscape in modern landscapes. This paper hopes to offer some guidance and inspiration to the detailed landscape design through the study of the development and application of the stones in front of whitewashed wall landscapes in modern garden landscapes.
