Cellular members have the advantages of big rigidity, light weight, high bearing capacity and low cost. However analysis and researches on cellular steel columns are not development enough currently. This thesis mainly makes anslysis of overall stability of cellular steel columns about minor axis, and the main research work covers the following aspects:(1)the validity of the cellular steel columns’ model was verified by ANSYS software. First of all, it had a lot of work to do included defined material properties, selected unit type and meshed. Then the cellular steel columns’ model was established by considering the initial defects of the cellular steel columns, boundary constraints. Compared with the related literatures, the cellular steel columns’ model was proved to be correct.(2)the ultimate strengths of cellular steel columns about minor axis was received under centric axial load or eccentric compression. A pratical formula for predicting ultimate of cellular steel columns was received when member hole sizes, the spacing between holes, height-width ratio of the web, width-thickness of the flange and slenderness rations changed. Compared with the same-sized non-perforated steel column on the ultimate load bearing capacity and the Code for design of steel structures(GB 50017-2003), the calculation approach of the overall stability bearing capacity of the cellular steel columns about minor aixs was proposed.
