This article is a main analysis on the type selection principle of the direct air cooling system and the indirect air cooling system of the thermal power station in the northern region of china. Under various elements of different environment temperature, environment wind speed and altitudes, and through some detail studies on a typical engineering project, this article analyses and summarize the change rule of the back press and the configuration scale of the air cooling system, compares the ACC system with the ISC system in terms of technique, and finally summaries the type selection principle of the different districts in the northern region of china.Environment temperature has an obvious effect on the back press of the indirect air cooling system than the direct air cooling system. The back press of the indirect air cooling system will raise faster than the direct air cooling system as the environment temperature increasing. The back press of the indirect air cooling system will fall faster than the direct air cooling system as the environment temperature decreasing.Environment wind speed has an obvious effect on the back press of the indirect air cooling system than the direct air cooling system. With a wind of a velocity of over3.0m/s, the back press of the direct air cooling system increased rapidly. With the wind blowing at a velocity of 3.0~ 9.0m/s, the back press of the indirect air cooling system increased not obviously. When the wind velocity is over 9.0m/s, it need to analysis by the mathematical model experiment.The elevation has an obvious effect on the back press of the direct air cooling system than the indirect air cooling system. The back press of the direct air cooling system raised faster than the indirect air cooling system as the elevation is increased.
