Since precision strike becomes the inevitable trend toward modern warfare, increasing precision strike capability of conventional unguided ammunition is proved to be an important issue to all over the world. How to get the roll angle is a key technique for updating unguided weapon. The work presented in this paper focuses on measuring the roll angle of rockets. Solving the initial roll Angle, estimating the real-time roll Angle and the design of a semi-physical simulation platform are also contained in this paper. The major work of this paper is showed below:(1) Based on the established coordinate system, the transform relationships were derived and the dynamic model of rocket was analyzed. A numerical simulation was given to compute the ballistic characteristics of rocket with the range of 30 km. Mathematical models were developed to solve its initial roll angle while ignoring the yaw angle. Comparison of the weighted average method and Kalman filter method was analyzed to estimate the performance of real-time roll angle. The mathematical model was given to estimate the real-time roll angle by using Kalman filter method.(2) Combined with the kinetic characteristic of rocket, this paper deeply analyzed the principle of attitude determination.The design of roll attitude detection system on the basis of three-axis magnetic resistance sensor was confirmed. The system was supported by three-axis micro mechanical gyro. The design of the data recording equipments was developed both in hardware and software. Existing problems like the low accuracy and poor identification were overcomed when using single-sensor. The system has the characteristics of low cost, impact resistant, high precision.(3) Since a single test is not repeatable, a semi-physical simulation platform was designed to simulate the process of the high speed roll rocket. The platform was wooden-aluminum structure and achieved the performances of rocket and non- magnetic. The correctness and high precision of the method for solving attitude roll angle w as verified by semi-physical simulation test.
