With the rapid development of the automatic and intelligent technology,the digital protection monitoring device as an important part of substation system, its development is moving in the direction of intelligent network, as well as the integration of protection and monitoring, data communication integration.The field application of Digital protection monitoring device is better, not only can improve the reliability of power system, power supply quality and operating efficiency, provide high quality power supply for industrial and agricultural production and people’s life, but also can record operating datas real-time monitoing, find fault reason accurately, and send instructions to remove the fault correctly and reliably, reduce personnel’s workload and ensure the safety of person, equipment and power grid.So a high performance digital protection monitoring device is very necessary.The study proposed some improvement requirements and design schemes of the use of the device by applide advanced and mature computer technology and excellent performance of electronic products. The control function of the main control units, DSP chip TMS320VC33 is weak,so we have completed the design and improvement of the main control units by increasing the CPLD chip XC9572 constitutes a peripheral interface circuit. The improved device reached CPLD to expand DSP control logic functions, improved the DSP peripheral access ability greatly, and enhanced the function of the main control units.In the way during the device’s development, the way changed the part of the wiring logic, thus simplifying the panel wiring.Through the analysis of two kinds of modulus conversion mode, and in order to further simplify the circuit and shorten the time required for data acquisition, and reduce the intervention of the CPU, achieve highly integrated data acquisition unit and improve the reliability of devices, AD7865 chip have been used to complete the design of high-speed data acquisition system.Combined with the projects of 110 kV bus bar and every line interval to a substation of Mengxi Grid, the circuit connection and the function design have completed by adding voltage switch module on the device to achieve unit switch.
