With the rapid development of automobile industry, the traffic safety problem is becoming more and more prominent. Vehicle safety, comfort has become the prime concern of consumers, thus improving the passive safety of vehicles in the auto industry has become a key research topic. In recent years, many scholars have thoroughly studied the energy absorbing box, and achieved many results. But the design of energy-absorbing box many problems still exist, the structure design is usually mostly with engineering experience, the lack of relevant theoretical guidance, has a certain blindness. So it is difficult to achieve the desired optimization design results.Based on the summary of previous studies, the use of approximate model technology, combined with the numerical optimization method, a systematic study on the multi objective optimization design of a certain energy absorbing box is carried out. Take a positive impact of a certain type of car energy absorbing box as an example, the finite element model of impact simulation is established by using Workbench ANSYS software. The finite element simulation is carried out by using LS-DYNA software, and the results are obtained. By analyzing the characteristics of polynomial response surface, Kriging response surface and radial basis function response surface, and combining the research content and purpose of this paper, the response surface of the component is completed by means of the least square method. A genetic algorithm for the optimization design of energy absorbing box is established, and the structure optimization design of the energy absorbing box is accomplished.Multi-objective genetic calculations is carried out to optimize the design of the suction box structure calculations in this paper, to overcome the traditional multi-objective optimization design exists many problems. The method has a certain theoretical value and engineering significance for further research automobile collision properties and optimal design.
