Along with our country’s industrial structure adjustment and optimization of the rising level of consumption, shopping center as an important carrier of modern service industry and the emerging industry, will play an important role in promoting the rapid development of our country city consumption economy. Domestic and international experience shows that, to guide the rational planning of the shopping center, not only can enhance the vitality of city area, but also to guide the optimization of the layout of city space structure. But the blind development of shopping centers, will not only cause unnecessary competition, causing a great waste of resources. At present, Nanjing is accelerating the construction of a framework for the development of metropolitan area, to ensure the coordinated development of urban space is expanding and the shopping center, supermarket, department store and other service facilities is particularly important. How to combine the economic development and city space expansion, and effectively guide the planning and layout of city large and medium-sized shopping centers, and promote the sustainable development of economy and city, will be the focus of the content of this paper.The main research content of this paper is divided into the definition, concepts and development of shopping center in the research and practice of Nanjing metropolitan area is large and medium-sized shopping center status at home and abroad, shopping center and the Nanjing metropolitan area is large and medium-sized shopping center development and layout optimization research. This thesis is divided into six parts, the first chapter is mainly an overview of the origin and background of the research, development, explains the concept and classification of shopping center in China shopping center, define the research scope, the research focus. The second chapter describes and analyzes the present situation, the economic development of Nanjing in Nanjing urban district business center and large and medium-sized shopping center shopping center, combined with case summarizes the development characteristics of Nanjing metropolitan area is large and medium-sized shopping center. The third chapter is the survey of consumer behavior analysis of consumers and demand analysis, the scope of radiation group characteristics, consumer behavior characteristics, shopping center and consumers in the large and medium-sized shopping center needs to improve, through the questionnaire survey. The fourth chapter through the related research and practice at home and abroad study on shopping center, analysis the motive force of the development and the future trend of development of Nanjing metropolitan area is large and medium-sized shopping center, and put forward the corresponding strategies. In the fifth chapter, the basic theories of shopping center planning, analysis on the main influencing factors of the urban area of Nanjing is large and medium-sized shopping center layout and the existing problems, puts forward suggestions on the layout optimization of the urban area of Nanjing is large and medium-sized shopping center. The sixth chapter puts forward the main conclusions of this research, including the development prospect of the lack of analysis and to Nanjing metropolitan area of large and medium-sized shopping center.
