This paper has built the calculation model for the prying force of high-strength bolts’T-shape tensile connection, deducted the formula of prying force calculation and obtained the minimum and maximum thickness of flange plate at the T-shape tensile connection. Since it is very complicated to calculate prying force, a simpler design is discussed as to the T-shape tensile connection and verified with rationality by comparing formulas and modeling analysis through ANSYS. The calculated results are then analyzed to illustrate the relationship among the thickness of flange plate, tension load and prying force as well as that between the inflection value for the prying forces changes and critical load tension, by which worked out the formula of calculating the inflection values. Meanwhile, charts and calculation results are incorporated with ANSYS modeling to investigate the influence of flange plate material, bolt rating and diameter on the prying force and thickness of flange plate, which has provided reference and basis for the economical and rational design of high-strength bolts’T-shape tensile connection.For the joint design of the T-shaped High-strength Bolts connection, proper limit state should be selected for its theoretical analysis and calculation. By analyzing and comparison of three different limit states, this paper adopts the one under which the strength of the bolt and flange plate are equivalent. Under certain conditions, first the loading-tensile force under critical state and the thickness of the flange plate should be calculated, and the calculation of both are not determined by the tensile force. At design time, compare the value of loading-tensile force with that under critical state. Based on this ratio and on condition that certain standards and requirements are met, the thickness of the flange plate of the T-shaped connection can be determined, thereby the most economic and reasonable joint at the T-shaped High-strength Bolts connection can be designed.
