With the rapid development of the city, The natural landscape was replaced by the reinforced concrete. The increasing impervious areas made a bad impact on the city’s water circulation system and its’ecological environment. The urban water logging were more serious in most parts of China. How to reduce the storm water runoff and utilize rainwater has become an important problem of urban construction in our country. In the city, The urban park is a relatively effective system which can improve urban habitat ecological environment and restore the urban water cycle system. However the traditional urban park design attaches great importance to the and external manifestation such as landscape effect and species selection, ignoring the inner function such as storm detention and ecological regulation, that causing the loss of functions of the urban parks. Creating a methodology of urban park design system based on Low Impact Development (LID), this study aims to perfecting the park function of rainwater harvesting and utilization, provide a new idea for the urban park design by integrating drainage network, surface water body and park green space. Through the reasonable urban park design, the negative influence of natural ecosystem would be reduced in the urban construction.Firstly, based on the introducing the function characteristics and applicable conditions of the existing LID technology, such as Rain Garden, Green Roof, Grassed Swales and so on. The research build up an urban park design system based on the low impact design, which is better on cut down the surface runoff, purify rain water quality and create better landscape effect.Secondly, using LID concept for urban park planning and design is an improvement, which make the park more comprehensive on the function, more naturally on landscape effect, lower costs, and reduce the influence on urban hydrology conditions.Finally, Taking the design of baihetan wetland park in Xinjing as a example, Comprehensively displaying the methods of urban park design based on the low impact design. Evaluating the project of Baihetan wetland park based on LID design compare with the no-LID ones, The results showed that the design using low impact development has an obvious effect on reducing runoff and runoff water quality purification. The implementation of this case indicated that the LID urban park design method was feasible, and also has a referential significance for later researches.
