Preliminary Discussion On The Protection And Utilization Of Plateau Wetland Park

As one of the three major ecosystems on Earth, with a wide variety of biological type and outstanding productivity, wetland has always been recognized as environmental resource that cannot be ignored, which has also been regarded as "kidney of the earth" in the world. Plateau wetland is one of those main regions that enjoy rich biodiversity. It is not only a key part of the national strategic resources, but also a vital component in the protection and utilization of wetland, with a high value. However, due to climatic variation, precipitation deficit, human disturbance and other interference factors resulting, plateau wetland is encountering a serious problem of shrinking. Therefore, we should put the protection of plateau in an important position and take effective measures to manage this fragile ecological environment.As a specific form of protection and utilization of wetlands, wetland park is one of the effective ways to expand the wetland area and maintain wetland functions, which has been widely used in China and made good ecological, social and economic benefit. But, because of the rapid development of wetland park, many problems have emerged in the process of wetland protection and utilization. Those problems exist in all aspects of wetland park construction.Protection and utilization of wetland is so contradictory that it is hard to strike a balance, especially in plateau wetland. The particularity, complexity and variability of surrounding conditions of plateau wetland trigger that the research and practice of wetland park is a long and difficult process. This paper has attempted to start from the related basic issues, in order to study and discuss the planning and design of wetland park preliminarily. Firstly, this paper has elaborated the concepts of wetland, plateau wetland, wetland park and the threats of plateau wetland. Secondly, analyse of the existing problems in the process of wetland park protection and utilization have been provided. Thirdly, according to the basic theories, planning principles, main contents and protection strategy, a thought and method of plateau wetland park have been presented. Lastly, a specific planning and design method of plateau wetland has been made to solve practical problems, take Yalong Wetland Park as an example.
