1000MW level power unit possesses the characteristics such as large capacity, high security requirements, so the generator-transformer protection also should use highly reliable equipment, in particular to avoid the protection misoperating or refusing to operate. Early million units’ protection device adopts imported variable group of protection device, but with millions of units of a large number of construction and the localization of generator-transformer group of improving continuously the protection requirements, millions of domestic microcomputer protection are increasingly used.Based on the first and second phase of the Tai Zhou power plant project, which respectively adopts GE generator-transformer abroad and domestic Nan Rui protection device, this article compares the differences between protection manufactures at home and abroad for the million kilowatt power plant. From the protection configuration, principle, etc, this paper discusses the localization of microcomputer protection in technology, security, reliability, stability which has a great advantage.
