Lubrication technology is one of the important technologies to ensure space vehicles and aircrafts’reliable operation, which has important impact on the lifetime of mechanical components. Surface texturing technology is a rising tribological technology, which is a series of regular arrays of dimples or grooves machined on friction surface.A simple contact model of friction pair with surface textures and solid lubricant film was developed to simulate sliding friction of the friction pair. Equivalent stress distribution and contact stress distribution were obtained to analyze the life extension mechanism of solid lubricant film on texturing surface. The results showed that geometrical parameters of the surface texture had great influence on the simulation results; as the solid lubrication film created on the surface texture, the maximum equivalent stress value appeared in the edge of the surface texture, it could be inferred that the solid lubricant film would be peeled off earlier from the edge of the surface texture, thus affecting the lifetime of solid lubricant film. Therefore, it is the key factor to increase the bonding strength between solid lubrication film and test piece to prolong the lifetime of solid lubricant film.This paper researched the influence of geometrical parameters of surface textures, testing conditions, preparation of solid films, substrate materials, and the components of solid lubricant film on synergy of surface texture and solid lubrication. The results showed that the solid lubricant film was well-distributed by spraying and the thickness of the film met the criterion, the geometric parameters of surface textures had optimum values, in this paper, M2000 friction and wear tester was used to carry out a series of experiments, when the rotation rate was 200r/min, the lifetime of solid lubricant film was prolonged as the load increased from 500N to 900N, but the lifetime of solid lubricant film was shortened as the rotation rate increased from 200r/min to 400r/min, no matter what the load was 500N or 900N, substrate materials had significant effects on the lifetime of solid lubricant film, and the lifetime of the composed solid lubricant film was longer than the pure molybdenum disulfide solid lubricant film as the experiments were progressed on smooth surfaces, and the weight of serpentine powder had an optimum value, but on the textured surface, it would shorten the lifetime of solid lubricant film when the same content synthetic serpentine powder was added in the molybdenum disulfide solid film.The present research work analyzed the properties and life extension mechanism of solid lubricant film on texturing surface, which provided a theoretical basis and testing support for surface texture’s application to the bears of space vehicles and aircraft.
