With the pace of automobile business development and urbanization speeding up in our country, the recoverable amount of the automobile is also in the gradual growth, and the problem of road safety increase seriously. Driver fatigue is an important reason leading to traffic accidents. On another hand, because of high pressure of life and lack of rest and other reasons, the proportion of cardiovascular diseases of drivers have increased year by year. So fatigue driving and personal diseases is two important factor for traffic accidents.Detection of driver’s biological signals in the objective aspect can be conscious of the driver’s driving state and physical condition, moreover improving the driving safety. Because the ECG signal is directly related to the safety of the life of driver and passengers, the visible monitoring ECG status is particularly important. While testing in the process of vehicle we must adopt a more portable ECG collection and analysis systemThis paper design a driver’s electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor using Android smartphone and MSP430F149 microcontrollers as platform. This system collects driver’s ECG data using the electrodes on the steering wheel. Then it transmits the data to the Android smartphone via the bluetooth module after A/D conversion by single-chip computer to implement such functionality as real-time ECG waveform mapping, heart rate calculation and abnormal alarm. It reduces the ECG monitoring equipment cost and increases the portability. The experimental results show that this system can accomplish real-time ECG monitoring and early warning for driver fatigue.
