The research about water source heat pump technology is more and more mature. However, the study of combination and application of heat pump and intermediate water is seldom, so is urban central heating. With the rapid expansion of cities, building energy consumption is increasing, and the heating gap is becoming larger. There is an urgent need that the intermediate water source heat pump heating system should intervene. But the domestic scholars have little research on this aspect, which lead to the lack of theoretical guidance for the operation of the intermediate water source heat pump. This leads that the operation mode of boiler heating is often used in the traditional operation of intermediate water source heat pump system. At the same time, the special nature of the water source heat pump central heating was neglected. With this, the heat pump system cannot run in the best condition. In the bad running environment for a long time, it is bound to have an impact on the economic costs, energy efficiency and environmental benefits.This paper introduces a large water source heat pump system. Through theory analysis and the operation analysis of the heating season, the problems are diagnosed in the operation. In addition, the reasonable operation strategy is proposed and the problems in reality are solved. With the concept of the energy saving and investment reduction, the water quality and water source heat pump heating capacity are analyzed. And it meets the 2780000 M2 users of central heating ultimately. According to the theory calculation of distributed transmission system of water pump, the pump configuration of the optimized block ③ and ④ is obtained. For the constructing and running distribution system, there should be a reasonable operation plan, which should consider the long-term design and operation and the operation of the first stage. Through the analysis of the first stage operation, the power saving rate of distribution system reaches 53%. In the next, according to the simulation of intermediate water source heat pump units, we can conclude that intermediate water temperature and the unit configuration influent much to the overall performance. Finally, for the project in the central heat pump unit, the operation should meet the peak load, and the distribution characteristics of the building load. So that the heat pump can be run in high efficiency. The configuration of the assembling unit is 1:0.65 and the energy saving rate is 4.9%. It plays the potential of energy saving and emission reduction.
