Quantitative Analysis Of Digital Models Based On Thirty-one Scenery Of The Humble Administrator’s Garden

The study on traditional Chinese gardens usually focuses on the changes of the forms and styles or attaches the importance to linguistic philosophizing of drawings, paintings and poems. The visual basic of traditional Chinese gardens comes from traditional Chinese literati landscape paintings, which having multiple perspectives of landscape is a comprehensive and objective view and also the start of garden space and artistic conception. Wen Zhengming, more than anyone else, gives Soochow literati its own distinguished characteristic in the Mid-Ming dynasty. Moreover, he established a new aesthetic standard for literati landscape garden in his Thirty-one Scenery of The Humble Administrator’s Garden.This thesis puts the argumentation in three parts. Chapter Two is the first part:by means of combining Wen Zhengming’s life experiences and paintings and poems of Thirty-one Scenery of The Humble Administrator’s Garden, the thesis analyzes the background, such as conception, aesthetics, emotional expression, in paintings and gardens creation. Chapter Three is the second part, based on of knowledge of landscape and technology of computer, by use of software, it establishes thirty-one digital models and an overall landscape digital model. The third part includes Chapters Four and Five. Chapters Four accomplishes sight system of Wen Zhengming for The Humble Administrator’s garden.Furthermore, a quantitative analysis of sight system is made. The Chapter Five, on the foundation of previous sight system, according to garden spatial features of sights changing with steps and tour route which based on the analysis of related documents, it attempts to look for a dynamic three-dimensional space parade route, get fragmented pictures, finally, complete landscape painting scroll of The Humble Administrator’s Garden.There is no research on artistic conception of poems and paintings in this thesis. Based on Wen Zhengming’s perspective,which represented the view of traditional Confucian literati, this thesis concentrates on the way of seeing ideology. By means of digital model and quantitative analysis of Thirty-one Scenery of The Humble Administrator s Garden, it attempts to explore the landscape and the landscape garden creation starting point, eventually reveal the complex and profound mechanisms behind the garden creation from the physical and mental aspects. The study method that explores the way of seeing ideology, aesthetic taste, creative vision and emotional experience for Chinese classical gardens from the view of landscape paintings, will open up new research direction and provide new inspiration for the development of contemporary Chinese gardens.
