As the root of the buildings, the ground base and foundation will produce uneven settlement when asymmetrical loads acting on its or the existence of uneven distribution of ground soil layer. if the settlement value exceeds a certain limit, which will lead to the structure of the cracking, tilt even overturn. In fact, as a whole, the building is closely related to the surrounding environment. Even if the groud settlement value is uniform, the use and appearance of the building will also be disproportionately affected, especially for some of the settlement sensitive equipment, such as elevators, piping, equipment, etc. It can be seen that the calculation of foundation deformation has become an important part of the foundation engineering. As one of the highly concerned problems in the foundation engineering, people have made a lot of research on settlement calculation. The geotechnical design paramenters are assumed to be random variables, and the spatial variability of soil parameters is neglected. In this paper, the random field theory is introuduced into the the calculation of foundation settlement, in order to get a more reasonable evaluation method and forecast method, combined with the MATLAB programming software and ABAQUS finite element analysis software to calculate the foundation settlement. In this paper based on the measured data of Xuzhou project, with random field theory as the basis, use MATLAB programming software compiling the computer program about correlation distance and random field, and discuss the influence of correlation distance calculation results and related factors of the simulation results with the random field; Then, based on a practical project as background, ABAQUS model for finite element analysis is established. Combine the soil random field parameters with finite element model; Finally, compare the calculation results of random field model and uniform field model with the measured settlement value. It is concluded that the calculation results of the random field model with the parameters of the rock and soil parameters are more accurate. The feasibility and rationality of the application of random field theory in the calculation of foundation settlement are verified.
