With the development of the social economy and science and technology, people have higher demand for the conveniences of modern life. Car as a basic travel tool of modern life is increasingly becoming an important part of people’s daily lives, and then higher demand for the vehicle comfort and security is presented. Smart key system improves the automatic degree of car, which greatly facilitate the users. However, the traditional smart key system adopts quasi two-way communication mode which causes many security risks, because the attacker could easily intercept the low-frequency packets, thereby inducing a high-frequency encrypted signal. Full two-way communication mode eliminates this risk, but it could not effectively prevent relay attacks. Distance bounding protocols could theoretically prevent relay attacks, but they require a high time precision and lack widely applicable implementation.As an extension of the Internet of Things, Internet of Vehicles achieve a synergistic interaction of people, vehicles, roads and the environment, which will enable users to have a safer and more comfortable driving environment. In the future, smart key system will also become an important part of the Internet of Vehicles. However, the traditional smart key system could not effectively be combined with the body control module, and thus is not scalable to achieve more functionality, and could not access the network to communicate with the outside world, so it does not comply with the development trend of the Internet of Vehicles.This paper presents an improved smart key system and a security program in which we can control cars remotely through a wireless network and integrate smart key system with CAN bus inside the car. We designed and implemented security protocols for communication between the car and the server, and between the car and the key. With wireless network, when the user is away from the car, he or she can turn off the local smart key subsystem of the car, to isolate attacks against smart key system, like relay attack, etc.; it also can remotely monitor the car to collect status information, so that in case of attack, it can alarm users to take countermeasures. With CAN bus, smart key system is integrated into the vehicle body control system, which makes the system have the advantages of real-time, high reliability, fine scalability and ease of quickly and accurately troubleshooting and updating the firmware. Hardware and software platforms of the system are built, including hardware platforms, antenna design and make, software, protocol design and development, etc. Finally, the security policy and the functions of the system are tested, which show the effectiveness of the system.
