Microfluidic systems have been widely applied in the aeras of biological, chemica l analyses, robotics, and electronic instruments and so on. The use of ultrasma l l volumes accelerates health monitoring and biological research and significa nt ly reduces the analysis time and cost. In these applications, micropumps are essential for any microfluidic system and have been an attractive topic of research for decades. Most micropumps are drived by PZT vibrators, because vibrators have the characteristics of simple structure, fast response, low price and so on.This paper is based on The National Natural Science Fund(No. 51405189), valveless air piezoelectric pump based on the synthetic jet(valve-less air piezoelectric pump for short) is designed and manufactured.This pump has the characteristics of small dimensions,simple structure, none inner moving parts,integrality, easy to be controlled and so on,and it has strong fluid direction-controll ability, a flexible conduit can be installed on the outlet of the pump and deliver air to the destination needed. Simulation and experimental study on valve-less air piezoelectric pump are conducted to reveal the working principle and study on the relevant parameters.ANSYS is used to establish finite element model, modal analysis, static analys is, and harmonic response analysis are conducted on the vibrator. Scanning laser beam micrometer and Impedance Analyzer are used to test the vibrator.3D simulation model are established on the fluid domain of the pump, ICEM software is used to divide mesh on the model, CFX software is used to simulate the model with the technology of moving mesh to simulate the moving pattern of the vibrator. On the basis of the actual condition to determine the initial condition, boundary condition, calculation type. The CFX simulation results are studied, the streamline diagram and cloud chart in different time of the working cycle are analysed to illustra te the working principle. Simulation contrasting experiments are conducted on the four parameters pump chamber height h, cavity height H, outlet diameter d, jet orifice diameter D whose influences on the performance of the pump are relatively high, find how these parameters influence the pump performance and prepare for the trial-manufacture and contrasting experiments of the valve-less air piezoelectric pump.Experimental prototype of the valve-less air piezoelectric pump are designed and manufactured, the testing system are established, electronic soap film flowmeter is used to measure the flow rate of the pump. Contrasting experiments on the chamber height, cavity height, outlet diameter, jet orifice diameter are conducted on the the pump under the condition of 120 V voltage and frequency span of 40 Hz~400Hz, the influence law of the relative parameter on the valve-less air piezoelectric pump are studied.
