With audio & video system, the UAV plays an important part in areas such as surveillance, reconnaissance and aerial photography. The UAV audio and video codec system aims to capture audio and video signals, transmit them to the ground after the audio and video signal compression, and implement real-time audio and video playing. UAV transmission link has limited bandwidth and is susceptible to interference, the traditional audio and video codec system can’t meet the demands of UAV. Therefore, developing low-latency error-resilient audio-video codec system is significant for UAV application.This thesis developed software of audio video codec system for UAV, implemented real-time audio video codec and error robustness, and designed a set of low latency implementation. The UAV audio video codec system consists of the encoding system and the decoding system. The encoding system was based on TMS320DM385 and implemented signal capture, compression and data transmission. On the other hand, the decoding system was based on TMS320DM8107 and realized data receiving, audio video decompression and playing. Besides, this thesis adopted Vandermonde RS codes to realize error-resiliency. Furthermore, in order to further strengthen the real-time performance of the system, this thesis designed and implemented the following delay optimizations:(1)By reducing the waiting time for each link, this thesis improved the efficiency of the system; (2)By adopting Intra refresh scheme, this thesis realized smooth streaming and fluent video playing.It was shown through experiments that the software meets the demands of function design and totally fulfills the low-latency error-resiliency demand of UAV.
