As the "people" gradually become the focus of planning and design. The core of space design is transformed from "physical space" to "people", people’s feelings and demands become the dominant power of space development. The sex difference causes obvious different activities between male and female in the central area. The most active factor is women who affected by the central area and their feeling is important reference value to construction of the central area.This dissertation researches ideas followed by "Activity characteristic -- Perception summary--Reason analysis",takes Xinjiekou district of Nanjing as an example on the basis of carding of existing literature, researches around the activity preference and perception characteristic of female by starting from the research on gender differences. On the one hand, summarize the common characteristics of activity and perception, one the other hand, investigate the different activities in the female group. Based on five spatial elements of city image and sum up the main characteristics of female’s perceptions to the space environment of the central area, namely, the preference to highly mixed function, the boundary recognition which based on visual accessibility, the reliance on simple and intuitive traffic system, the tendency to Space node with higher added value, the recognition about symbol in commercial brand. And then summed up the different space perception of different female individual, namely, the difference of space function caused by age and family structure, thinking about the space atmosphere caused by the difference of peer object, attention to the space environment caused by Income difference and emphasis on space culture caused by the Difference in educational background. Next, make reasons summary about perception characteristics of female central area:gender difference is the basic reason, the influence of social culture is internal reason of women’s awareness formation, the spatial characteristics is external conditions of Female perception. At last, with the existing problem of city center, suggest for the design of space from the three aspects:gender, space and time. The recognition about symbol in commercial brand. Understanding the women’s perception in space will help to know the logic of the city space organization, and it will provide important basis for city space design.
