The erected reinforced earth retaining wall has several advantages, such as less area cover, less cost and so on. Therefore, this kind of wall is widely used in highway engineering. However, the erected reinforced earth retaining wall has special structure and it always works in special environment, so the stability of the retaining wall always maybe in danger. When the stability of the retaining wall is no longer so good, the most intuitionistic performance is the lateral deformation of the wall. The stability of the structure is important, because if the structure was no longer stable, it will be dangerous to the safety of the highway engineering. The upper load is one of the most important factors affecting stability of the erected reinforced earth retaining wall. The function mode of the upper load have a great influence on the structure stability, but it remains to be studied. The ribbon layout mode, the ribbon stiffness, the interaction between wall bricks and the upper load location have effect of structural stability or not. It remains to be studied. This paper bases on the erected reinforced earth retaining wall of K101 "Ji Nan-He Ze" highway. Based on its structure and physical characteristics, a monitoring method is put forward. Based this method, the deformation law of the erected reinforced earth retaining wall can be studied. The results show that the situation of the middle large deformation accounts for 50 percent, the situation of the upper large deformation accounts for 30 percent. Based on the Specifications for design of highway reinforced earth engineering, we calculate the stability of the structure. Using PLAXIS to simulate the stability in two different kind of load on the top of the wall. One kind of load is concentrated load, the other kind is uniform load. The two kinds of load size are equal. In both cases, compare the settlement at the top of the wall, lateral displacement of the wall, tensile force in reinforcement and so on. These parameters are related to the stability of the structure. The results show that the concentrated load has a greater impact on the stability of the wall. So when the wall is designed and constructed, the road bed should be thickened to weak the upper load influence to the stability of the wall. Meanwhile the effects of the ribbon layout mode, the ribbon stiffness, the interaction between wall bricks and the upper load location are studied to find that the above indicators have effect to the structure stability or not. This article research results have reference significance for the design and construction of the erected reinforced earth retaining wall.
