The performance of asphalt pavement is determined directly by the design quality of asphalt mixture. Marshall design method is widely adopted in the design of asphalt mixture in China, which has a complicated process of design,a intricate process of date,a huge test quantity,a long cycle, and is rely on strong subjectivity and experience.At present, the gradation design and data processing are mainly completed by the Excel software or the artificial test method, and there is few design system software based on the theory of gradation selection and automatic processing of data.In order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of asphalt mixture design, in this paper, the proportion design system of asphalt mixture was conducted by theoretical analysis, software model establishment, software developing and testing, testing and verifying in laboratory and other means. The main contents include:(1) Aggregate grading design technology and program implementation.(2) Estimate of asphalt-aggregate ratio and determine of optimum asphalt-aggregate ratio and program implementation.(3) Application and verification of proportion design system.Through the research above, the main results and conclusions are as follows:(1) Graphic method can be used in designing the initial grading in the design system of asphalt mixture proportion, and can design multiple grading curves on the basis of the initial grading.(2) Selecting and determining aggregate grading can be achieved by estimating VMAo of mixture without asphalt, which reduces a large number of Marshall tests.(3) Adopting the method of initial asphalt-aggregate ratio estimated can calculate initial asphalt-aggregate ratio, and determine the optimal asphalt content through the design system automatically, which improved the design efficiency and accuracy.(4) By using a certain one middle layer asphalt pavement AC-20 mix design of a highway as a case, the stability and reliability of the design system was verified, and the intelligent and high efficiency of asphalt mixture design was realized.
