With the rapid development of bridge construction in china and the fast growth of traffic volume, different degrees of diseases occurring on bridge are emerging constantly. There are many reasons, including the inexactitude construction quality control, the irresponsible detection and maintenance in the using stage, the overheavy vehicle load and the common vehicle overload and over-speed phenomenon, leading to this situation which seriously endanger the safety and travelling comfort of the bridge. Combined with the common diseases of Jialing River Bridge in the Wusheng County equipped with the transverse deck, the reinforcement measures that the reinforced concrete stringer and the transverse bridge deck have been replaced by the orthotropic steel-concrete composite bridge deck system were analyzed in details. The main research results and conclusions are as follows:(1) This thesis analyzed the different degrees of diseases of the transverse bridge deck and listed the requently-used technique of reinforcing the bridge deck with its causes. And a new reinforcement measures with its concrete steps and key matters was put forward which replaced transverse deck with the orthotropic steel-concrete composite bridge deck system.(2)The space finite element models of the whole bridge was established, which can be used to analyze the stress of the bridge in construction. Through the study on the change regularity of the stress and displacement of the main arch in construction, the effects of the construction on the bridge can be showed in this paper. The unfavorable construction stages can be determined in theory by the large variations of the stress and displacement in construction to explore the possible dangers or problems in the construction process and put forward relevant construction proposal.(3)Depending on the actual size and material properties of the structure of the bridge, the space finite element models of the pre-and-post reinforcement of the existing reinforced concrete arch bridges were established by using Midas/Civil in this paper, which can be used to analyze the characteristics of internal force of main arch ring equipped with the transverse deck or the orthotropic steel-concrete composite bridge deck system under the dead weight, temperature action, live load or load combinations. Through the contrast analysis of the displacement and stress between unreinforced and reinforced bridge, the change and influence of the stress and deformation could be discussed.(4) The floor system was decomposed into three mechanical systems, and the mechanical characteristics and calculation methods of each system was analyzed. The finite element model of the floor system was created by using ANSYS in this paper with shell element and solid element to study the mechanical behavior of the orthotropic steel-concrete composite bridge deck system under the dead weight.(5)The wheel load was arranged in different locations of a section of bridge deck system along the longitudinal and transverse direction to study the mechanical law of the each component under the wheel load and determine the severest positions of wheel load. On the base of all above mentioned, the critical stress position and mechanical characteristics of the cross beam, longitudinal beam and bridge deck can be analyzed, which is used to verify whether the design of the new bridge deck system is suitable.
