With the increasing need for energy and infrastructure and the increasing requirement for environmental protection, the construction of large-span dry coal shed structures will get considerable development. But it is difficult for large-span dry coal shed structures to bring investors attractive returns, so it is necessary to control the engineering cost. For designers, to find the structural form that can ensure the economy of structure and satisfy the security of structure is the most important problem that must be solved. Besides, the distance between the restraints of large-span dry coal shed structures is large, and the spatial variation of ground motion results in the discrepancy of seismic excitations between different restraints, which causes that the seismic response of the structures under multi-support excitations is quite different from that under uniform excitations. It is of great significance for the structure safety during the earthquake to study the influence of multi-dimensional and multi-support seismic input on seismic response of structures. The main work in this paper includes several aspects as follows:(1) Analysis of structure style selection of a large span dry coal shed is made by using three kinds of general finite element structural analysis software including Midas/Gen,3D3S and MST. By comparing the main indicators of structural analysis, the advantages and disadvantages of three kinds of large span structures (space pipe truss, latticed shell and grid) are illustrated and the reasonable structure style is selected. The selection result shows that the space pipe truss structure is more reasonable.(2) Based on the stability analysis made on the selected structure, this paper studies the influence of various factors on the structural stability, and puts forward how to control these factors to improve the stability of the structure.(3) In this paper, combined with the "code for seismic design of buildings" (GB 50011-2010), the selection process of seismic waves is introduced in detail, and the rationality of the selected seismic waves is verified.(4) Studying the influence of multi-dimensional and multi-support seismic input on seismic response of the structure using time history analysis method and designing the structure under the condition of multi-dimensional and multi-support seismic input will ensure the safety of the structure under the action of earthquake. The seismic design method under the condition of multi-support seismic input proposed in this paper can be used to guide the engineering design.
