In recent years, the world has increased the development of renewable energy in response to environmental pollution and energy crisis. Characterized by its large reserves, wide distribution, high energy density and difficult collection, wave energy, a kind of marine renewable energy, has become a research hotspot but also a difficulty. With the potential advantages of good reliability, low cost and high efficiency, the technology of buoy-rope-drum wave power generation is a typical type of point-absorption generation technology. The technology has a simple principle and compact structure. It uses the buoy-rope-drum mechanism to capture wave energy.With the highest cost and the longest period, real sea trial step is at the greatest risk in the research and development of the technology of buoy-rope-drum wave power generation. This paper proposes a kind of land simulation test platform for buoy-rope-drum wave power device. Using this platform, most of the hidden risks of the sea trial prototype could be detected and eliminated on land, thereby reducing the cost and risk of real sea trial step and shortening the development cycle. In this paper, the following aspects are studied.(1) Based on the buoy’s motion in seawater, the hydrodynamics analysis is done through linear wave theory and the mathematical model of the device’s heaving motion is deduced. It is the single-degree-freedom spring oscillator damped forced vibration model.(2) The design of the land simulation test platform for buoy-rope-drum wave power device is proposed. The paper analyzes the design’s working principle and obtains the mathematical model of the device’s motion on the test platform through dynamics analysis. With the accordance between the mathematical models of the device’s motion on the test platform and that in seawater, the paper ensures the validity of the design of the land simulation test platform for buoy-rope-drum wave power device.(3) The structural design of the land simulation test platform for buoy-rope-drum wave power device is completed, and the strength and rigidity check of the key components is accomplished. The land simulation test of buoy-rope-drum wave power device is conducted, during which the power device’s actual movement displacement curves are measured. The good agreements between the device’s actual and theoretical displacement curves verify the validity of the design of the land simulation test platform for buoy-rope-drum wave power device.
