With the improvement of the national economy industry level, the appliance of UHV (Ultra-High Voltage) transmission tower system in the power system is more widely. The characteristics of UHV transmission tower are that the hight of tower is very high and the span between towers is large. So it is very necessary to study the wind-induced vibration response of the suspended insulator strings. This paper is based on the case of such practical needs, using finite element analysis technology to analyze the windage of insulator string under different conditions. Firstly, the basic theory of windage are introduced, and then we use AR autoregression model to simulate the fluctuating wind loads with dynamic characteristics. Using ANSYS finite element analysis software to analyze the windage of insulator strings under the influence of average wind and fluctuating wind. Finally, this thesis analyze both the rod and disc insulator strings’windage under the case of a change in certain factors. Results show that under the action of average wind, the windage of insulators by finite element method is close to that by traditional rigid body statics. This thesis achieve a simulation of turbulent wind in the MATLAB software by AR autoregression model. Considering the dynamic effects of fluctuating wind on the structure, the windage of insulators by finite element method is larger than that by traditional rigid body statics. So this thesis propose that at the design of windage of insulator strings, it is necessary to increase the consideration of dynamic action by fluctuating wind on structure. And this thesis analyze the windage of both two different insulator strings at the case of different length of insulator strings at the effect of average wind. Then this article get the conclusion that with the increase of length of strings, the windage will get small, and at the same effect, the windage of rod insulators is larger than the disc insulator strings.
