With the rapid development of power electronics and control technology, brushless DC motors are used more often than before in household appliances, industrial automation, intelligent robots and other applications, which also increases the requirements of control accuracy and control performance of brushless DC motor. Therefore, the design of high-performance brushless DC motor control system becomes more pressing needs.In this article, fistrly analyze the basic principle of the brushless DC motor from its mechanical structure. After that, the mathematical model of a brushless DC motor is build, which includes the electromagnetic voltage equation, torque expression and motion equations of the motor. From the model can see the brushless DC motors is multivariable, non-linear and time-varying. So propose an adaptive fuzzy PID control algorithm and use MATLAB/SIMULINK to simulate it. For comparsion, also simulate the classic PID control algorithm. The simulation results show that the fuzzy PID control algorithm proposed significantly improves control precision and performance of the system.In order to verify the simulation, designed a hardware control system using TMS320F28335 as the core processor. The whole system also includes some other modules, such as power manergement, power modules, feedback circuit and interface circuit. Then baesd on the hardware system, developed the fuzzy PID adaptive control algorithm program, which mainly cover the program of A/D sampling, the interrupt response program of the timer, the program of speed adjustment and current regulation. Also developed a QT-based PC software named MotorWingman to debug the system. At last, the system build was tested using some other equipment. The test results show that the brushless DC motor control strategy proposed is feasible and superior comparing to the traditional one.
