By the autofrettage process,favorable compresive residual stress is introduced to the inner portion of the barrel.Subsequent application of pressure has to overcome these compressive stress before tension stresses can be developed, thereby increasing its strength-to-weight ratio and fatigue lifetime. At present, the hydraulic autofrettage technique and swage autofrettage technique has been widely utilized for various function. however, realiable measurement of the residual stress has always been accompanied with the scientists. This paper present a method of residual stress measurement using the basic of Sachs boring and optical fiber sensor Mach-Zehnder.The method provide a reference for autofrettage technique and practice.The obtained result are list as following:(1) The inner and outer surface cutting process of autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder is simulated with the ANSYS software. This paper predicts the residual stress for different conditions: strain of percentage, wall ratio and different cutting sequences.At the same time, ANSYS toolbar button is developed. Just click on the corresponding button on the toolbar to achieve appropriate analysis process, makeing the simulation process simpler and more efficient.(2) This paper present a method of residual stress measurement using the basic of Sachs boring and optical fiber sensor Mach-Zehnder. In order to decrease the difficulty and achieve the objective, comparing the unloading process of autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder bore cutting process with the former instead of the latter’s experimental program. Shah boring method based on based on Mach-Zehnder sensor, aluminum alloy thick-walled cylinder slow unloading process, external surface stress measurement.(3) At the same time,it presents the reliability of the tests comparing the results of measurement with simulation and theoretical. It is feasible for optical fiber sensor Mach-Zehnder to measure the residual stress of autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder.
