To get rid of the restriction of the region, making the new underground silos can be built and used in the high water area along the coastal areas, the groundwater buoyancy effect to the underground silos should be solved urgently.However, due to the lack of a whole theory system to the anti-uplift design of the underground construction especially underground mass structure,which is needed to support the engineering practice,most of the engineers either relay on the experience or existing engineering instance or estimate the structure of underground water buoyancy by the principle of Archimedes theorem conservatively.However, in actual engineering, underground structure under the calculation of buoyancy is influenced by many factors,such as the seepage situation of underground water, soil texture and its density,structural materials,etc, most of which are beneficial for anti-floating design,so calculating the buoyancy force only by Archimedes’ principle simply is bound to cause the waste of resources.For underground grain silo anti-uplift problem, this paper adopts the method of indoor simulation experiment, considering the various factors which are good for anti-floating design,such as the wall friction with the soil function, cohesive force between Silo bottom and soil,negative pressure possibly existing and so on, explore the anti-floating design about the possibility of a reduction of the problem based on Archimedes’ principle.In this paper, my study includes the following aspects:1) Summarize the current research achievements of domestic and foreign scholars on underground structure anti-uplift problem, put forward the starting point of the test and research content.2) Design and create indoor model test device,when underground grain silos are acted by under groundwater in cohesive soil and cohesionless soil,calculate the largest proportion of the function which is good warehouse anti-floating design to warehouse body buoyancy. And on this basis make an appropriate reduction to buoyancy calculation method f by Archimedes’ principle.3) Combined with practical engineering cases, contrast research results for anti-floating design with the original plan.
