Economic dispatch of power system under the current rapid development electric power market environment is need according to the characteristics of the market available to reconsider the power system model design and solution of large scale. At the same time, as increasing pattern of energy shortage in the world, China also releases the energy-saving emission reduction policies, introducing a variety of clean energy in today’s electric power industry has been the trend now, how to dispatch the multi-joint clean energy system efficiently and practically has become the current focus of research.In this paper, the unit commitment is the research base, taking into account thermal power, hydropower, stored energy to a total three kinds system of short-term joint scheduling problem, emphasis of this paper is to formulate a mixed integer linear model, making the model suitable for large-scale electric power market short-term scheduling.The traditional model of thermal unit commitment is a mixed integer nonlinear model, as the expansion of the scale of the power system, it needs more time to solve the problem, and the MINLP even leads to the curse of dimensionality which may cause the problem can’t be solved. Using general algebraic modeling system (GAMS) to formulate thermal power system with energy storage of linear modeling, and the 10 units and 24 hours of data were calculated. Calculation results show that the mixed integer linear objective function is more than 0.004$ mixed integer nonlinear model, but the solve time of the MILP reduced 71.67% when compare to the MINLP. The increasing the amount of incremental goals can greatly enhance the speed of the solution for economic dispatch under electricity market environment. At the same time this paper consider linear hydro and energy storage, the calculation result prove that the hydro joining can significantly reduce the objective function, and the more energy storage power joining, the more obvious the peak-valley effect is. The exploration of energy storage modeling has a certain reference for the economic dispatch of power system.
