Vaporizer combustor has been widely used on micro turbine engine as it is low fuel consumption and simple structure. However, the study on the lean blowout (LBO) of the vaporizer combustor is not sufficient, while the LBO is one of the most important characteristics of combustor. Thus the study is developed on the LBO of the vaporizer combustor by experiment and CFD. The study includes:1) The influence of the atomization on the LBO is studied. The atomization of swirl cup combustor is studied and the result is used to develop the empirical formula by Lefebvre. At the same time, the near LBO is simulated as it is helpful to discuss the change of the characteristics close by LBO.2) A vaporizer test article is designed and an evaporation test rig is set up. An experiment is performed to measure the ratio of evaporation. Then the influence of the air flow, fuel flow and diameter of vaporizer on the ratio of evaporation is experimented.3) The LBO experiment is performed to get the F/A, which is simulated to obtain the air flow and fuel flow of the vaporizer on the LBO. Then the ratio of evaporation on the LBO is calculated. The ratio is added in LBO empirical formula to summarize the new LBO empirical formula for vaporizer combustor.4) The new LBO empirical formula is checked accurately by the LBO data of vaporizer combustor.Finally, the thesis is summarized by pointing out the drawbacks and the corresponding improvement proposal.
