This paper mainly studies the axial compressive performance of thick angle iron reinforced RC column,and the relationship between its bearing capacity and batten plate thickness or batten plate spacing,besides, explores bearing capacity and deformation characteristics of angle iron reinforced RC column under different initial stress or small eccentric load.Making and carrying out axial compression test on 4 piece (1 for comparison)of direct reinforcement columns with different batten plate thickness or spacing, and comparing the test results with two (separate and monolithic) ABAQUS finite element simulation results, which laid a foundation for further research.After that,more reinforced column models have been created to analyse:The variation of concrete and steel strength in reinforced column with different displacement load.Characteristics of stress distribution and deformation of the reinforced column.The batten plate thickness, spacing or the initial stress, furtherly, on the basis of predecessors’ research the ultimate bearing capacity calculation formula of angle iron reinforced RC column has been proposed that can fully consider various factors.Finally, the relationship between the bearing capacity and load eccentricity has been explored by model analysis in the same way. The study found that:The ultimate bearing capacity and ductility deformation ability of RC column reinforced by attaching thick angle iron are all significantly higher than the original column.The strength of concrete was improved after reinforcement. Reducing the batten plate spacing can improve the bearing capacity of the reinforced column to a certain extent,but increasing the batten plate thickness can’t improve the bearing capacity much.In addition, the initial stress can not be ignored,because the bearing capacity of the reinforced column decreases with the increase of the initial stress.the ultimate bearing capacity of reinforced column has been proved reasonable after a lot of validation.Small eccentric load has great influence on the bearing capacity of the reinforced column,and the bearing capacity will reduce when load eccentricity increases.
