In recent years, the development of smart grid has put forward higher requirements to the protection of power system. With the expansion of the size of the network and the complexity of the operation mode of the system, the existing traditional relay protection based on local information presents more and more disadvantages. On the one hand, it is more difficult to protect the whole set. When the operation mode of the system and the type of the fault are changed, the protection of the components of the power system and the power system will seriously affect the safety and stability of the power system. On the other hand, when the communication technology has not yet met the requirements, how to use the multi source information to accurately locate the fault, so as to reduce the scope of the fault and to shorten the time of fault removal is a major issue to be resolved in the current regional protection research. In this paper, a scheme of regional protection based on distributed information fusion is proposed, which is based on the distributed information fusion. The main research results are as follows:A scheme of regional protection based on distributed information fusion is proposed. Because only exchange information with adjacent substation, communication is simple and convenient is easy. Each station has a protection unit, which has independent troubleshooting and high reliability. The structure mode has nothing to do with the specific network structure,which is a kind of common standard form patterns with strong universality. When the host failure is out of wide area protection, the substation protection can use the traditional protection methods, which means the substation can degenerate to the traditional mode of natural protection.A method of region protection based on logical quantity information is proposed. Stations only transfer the logic of the protection scheme to reduce communication requirements. On the basis of setting up the protection setting value, the communication signal types are defined, and the fault location is determined by combining the local information and regional information.In the Windows environment, the protection of the regional protection device is formed based on the interface between the protection of the Windows system and the simulation device. Jiaxing Zhejiang power grid for the protection device of the pilot project, through the RTDS platform to build the actual system, verified that the regional protection device is accurate and reliable.
