With the rapid development of China’s economy, the demand of energy is increasing, and the energy issues are becoming increasingly prominent. All of these make energy saving and emission reduction technology getting more attention. In this paper, a personalized energy saving optimization method of air conditioning has been proposed. Moreover, performances of the presented measure have been analyzed in detail.To get a solid foundation for our scheme, this paper first introduces the air conditioning energy saving control method at home and abroad, and shows their energy efficient performance. On the other hand, the basic concepts of human thermal comfort have been presented, and indicated that the comfort of human body is related to the external environment factor and human factor. That is to say, the value of thermal comfort is concerned with external environment factor and human factor, which the former includes metabolic rate and thermal resistance of clothing, and the latter is comprised by air temperature, humidity, air velocity and indoor average radiation temperature.Secondly, several frequently used thermal comfort indices are introduced in this paper. Such as body temperature prediction, discomfort index, heat index and so on. Evaluation of the thermal comfort index is begin with the effective temperature, then it developed to new effective temperature, and now it called standard effective temperature. Through comprehensive analysis of these thermal comfort evaluation criterion, this paper chose the PMV index as the thermal comfort evaluation index. We get the relationship between environment variable (i.e. air temperature, humidity) and PMV value with the simulation of MATLAB. Furthermore, due to the calculation of PMV is too complex, a simplified PMV calculation formula has been proposed.Thirdly, in order to get the relationship between the air conditioning energy saving efficient and the acceptable PMV range, an energy consumption model of air conditioning room has been established. By simulating the cold load caused by building envelope, windows and solar heat during the summer of Beijing, calculated a day’s total electricity under different thermal comfort range of air conditioning room, then obtain the relationship between the PMV value setting range air conditioning energy saving. In addition, we also analyze the relationship between human thermal comfort and air conditioning energy consumption in different cities, which shows that the air conditioning energy saving efficiency is closely related to the city’s geographical position and climate environment.At last, to further verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we build an electricity data collection system in the laboratory, and the actual measurement of the power consumption under different thermal comfort conditions is carried out.
