| Exhibition halls, media platforms for showing information, obtaining information and doing research on accessing information, have special significance for improving national cultural quality and developing ethos connotation. In China, the booming development of exhibition halls makes themselves to be a perfect platform, on which architects innovate and practice their design theory. In many designs, the creation of entrance space has a special meaning in many aspects, such as function layout, space form, expression of emotion and streamline arrangement. The difference of the height between inside and outside makes it able for people to take advantage of elevation difference. This difference, which is used for guiding, relating varies types of subspaces and manifesting spirit of construction, has been become an obbligato part of entrance space. There is no doubt that the using of the elevation difference of the height of entrance space will affect quality of entire construction’s space design in a certain degree. This article takes a research on the using of the elevation difference in the entrance space of exhibition halls. By collecting resources on Internet and doing field research on about twenties exhibition halls, we can classify the using of the elevation difference treatment into three types:steps, slopes and bridges. This article uses SD method, a method of quantitative analysis, to analyze the above three types in the using of the elevation difference in entrance space and their effect on leading space, enriching space hierarchy, creating space atmosphere and image perspective. Also, this article explores this three types’ common characteristics and inequality, and then summarizes some feasible design strategies on different effects.By doing research on the using of elevation differenc in entrance space, this article offers not only a relatively detailed view for the professional architects, but also a scientific basis for design, which can help people to design better elevation difference to avoid some bad effects on using caused by poor design in elevation difference. |
