Coal gangue is one of the coal industry wastes. With the continuous increase of coal production in China, the accumulation of coal gangue is increasing year by year. The massive accumulation of coal gangue not only takes up a lot of arable land, but also causes serious damage to the local ecological environment. At present, coal gangue reused in the domestic and foreign countries and achieved good effects. It explored the feasibility of making coal gangue concrete block with the strength grade below MU30.The optimal mixture ratio was determined when coarse aggregate was replaced by coal gangue.Basic performances of coal gangue concrete block were studied under the optimal mixture ratio.Basic performances of coal gangue concrete block inculded mechanical properties and durability. It disigned nine kinds of coal gangue concrete with different mix proportion.,The formula of calculating the compressive strength of coal gangue concrete was obtained by analyzing the compressive strength of concrete specimens.,The optimal mix proportion of the prepared coal gangue concrete block wascalculated by this formula. It was showned that the replacement rate of the coal gangue is 78% and 45% respectively when the strength grade is MU30 and MU20 concrete block.Through the study it found that with the increase of the content of coal gangue, the compressive strength and durability of coal gangue concrete block presented a trend of linear decrease. Therefore, in the production of coal gangue concrete block, the optimal mix ratio of concrete should be strictly determined by the coal gangue concrete compressive strength calculation formula in accordance with the experimental results.
