Substructure pseudo-dynamic test only take out the part of a structure which is easy to damage or strong nonlinear as experimental substructure for laboratory loading, and the remaining part as numerical substructure which is calculated by computer. This method can reduce the requirement for testing equipment. Replacing calculation software developed by researchers themselves with finite element software can effectively improve accuracy and commonality of the test.ABAQUS is a large general finite element software which is commonly used in structural engineering and geotechnical engineering. A secondary development interface based on Python language is provided to make A BAQUS more powerful. This thesis studies mainly on substructure pesudo-dynamic testing method based on ABAQUS and development of the related program. In this thesis, the secondary development interface of ABAQUS is used for data exchange. Feasibility and generality of the method is also verified through several s ubstructure pseudo-dynamic tests.The basic theory of substructure pseudo-dynamic test and some key issues such as numerical integration algorithm, data communication mechanism and error sources is discussed in this thesis. On these basis, a substructure pseudo-dynamic testing method based on ABAQUS is realized, Specific operations including restart analysis, data exchange between substructure analysis program and ABAQUS by socket, real-time inquiry of ABAQUS database, Python code to modify boundary conditions of ABAQUS model and postprocess.Aiming at the problem of generality which is common in numerical substructure calculation programs developed by researchers themselves, a modular method of the program is put forward. Placing different parts of the program in different modules can significantly improve the readability and scalable of the program. Consider that the program may be called by some other computer languages, another method to convert it into a COM class is introduced. At the same time, the solutions to key problems in mostly used Open SEES interface are introduced. What’s more, differences between substructure pseudo-dynamic test based on ABAQUS and that on Open SEES is also discussed.A simulative substructure pseudo-dynamic test of a two-story-single-span frame is conducted to prove the feasibility of the method. By changing structural parameters, positions of substructure and boundary conditions, the generality, when calculating similar frames, is also verified.
