With the ultra high voltage rectifier station connected to the grid matching of 750kV power transmission project and main grid to strengthen project completed and put into operation, Ningxia power grid transmission capacity and resist impact fault will be improved. But multi circuit HVDC centralized placement of Ningxia power grid, has brought new challenges to the safe and stable operation of Ningxia power grid, source electrical distance decreases continuously, rapid increase of the short-circuit current level of the whole network, part of the plant and station switchgear fault tolerance level has been unable to meet the requirements, especially Ningdong tolerance in Eastern Yinchuan 750kV substation and 330kV substation of area near the existing maximum short-circuit current level has exceeded the maximum short-circuit current withstand level switch, Ningxia power grid has passed the optimization in the area power boot mode in the area of the control. The problem of high short circuit current has become an important bottleneck in the development of Ningxia power grid, it is urgent to research on the existing power grids and power grid in the future planning of short-circuit current limiting measures, comprehensive control of Ningxia power grid short-circuit current level.In order to solve the problem of short circuit current level of Ningxia power grid, this paper analyzes the current situation of Ningxia power grid in 2014, analyzes the existing problems and causes, and analyzes the main reasons for the short circuit current in Ningxia power grid, which is based on 2017,2020 Ningxia power grid and power supply, distribution characteristics, and the short circuit current limit. Theoretical basis for 750/330/220kV network planning in Ningxia power grid.
