In recent decades, chinese economic development rapidly and people’s living standards continue to improve. But chinese timber resources are dwindling, some varieties of precious breed even began to be extinct. At the same time, the light wood structure house get more and more application. In this context, many engineering woods are appearing. This paper uses a new type of structural material:laminated veneer lumber (LVL). LVL has many characteristics such as:high strength, flexible specifications, good stability and vibration damping performance, high efficiency, flame retardancy and fire resistance better weatherability than natural wood and so on. At home and abroad, in-depth research has been done on the mechanical property of LVL, however, the application of LVL in the structure is not much, the structure performance of LVL component is needed. Thus, this research is to study the bearing capacity of LVL truss, and the research results are of practical significance for the protection and utilization of wood structure building.In this paper, raw material of LVL component is poplar. Firstly measure parallel-to-grain compressive strength, compressive strength, horizontal stripes string to the compressive strength, horizontal stripes radial compressive strength, tensile strength parallel to grain, shear strength, moisture content and density measurement of LVL. And then through the static loading test of the four LVL wood trusses,span 4.5 m,get light LVL wood truss load-deflection relationship and failure load. By analyzing the experiment phenomena and data, summarize the influence of the bearing capacity of different form of LVL truss and node form and possible damage form. Then, calculating and analyzing tooth plate connections and bolted connections truss by using a simplified analytical method simple simulation node, the results will be compared with the test results, the results agree well, thus,verifying the applicability of this analytical method. Finally, by ABAQUS for light LVL truss to the finite element simulation, draw a conclusion that the simulated result was coincident with the test result. introducing the test results in practical engineering, and some suggestions are put forward for the engineering design and construction.
