In recent years, with our country economic development and the continuous improvement of the living standard, the light wood construction house was known very well by the people, and they also more like wood frame residential buildings, but facing shortage of timber resources, it is difficult to find the appropriate fast-growing lumber to support its development. This article describes a small diameter logs, Rotary cutting, drying, adhesive, single-slab parallel to the grain group, gluing together the new structural material:veneer Board laminated wood (Laminated veneer lumber, LVL). The flexible material with high strength, specifications, stability, good vibration damping performance, economy, higher flame resistance and weather resistance are much better than wood. LVL mechanical properties have done in-depth studies at home and abroad, but few scholars study system the mechanical properties of full scale specimens made from the material, which is grossly inadequate of the material using in the practical engineering.The poplar resources in Jiangsu are rich, is representative timber, and also is one of the raw materials required materials. This article firstly aim at geographical characteristics, through a series of measurements of the Poplar LVL made of specimen:compressive strength, compression modulus, tensile strength, tensile modulus, shear strength, density, moisture content and so on, it is beneficial to know the poplar makes LVL materials behavior, but also play an assistant for the next LVL study on full-scale wooden.This article uses the poplar as raw material, specially manufacturing three groups of same sections but the different height of LVL eccentrically compressed column, mainly from the perspective of different slenderness ratio, research different height LVL eccentrically compressed column under the load action, the changes in strain, deflection of each measuring point, thus analyzes that this column has the uniformity, as well as full scale specimen demonstrated stability under load; Next comparing the bearing capacity of LVL eccentrically compressed column to the LVL axial compression column and log eccentrically compressed column; Then based on the tentative data as well as correlation formula in "Agglutination Wood construction Technology standard" in the (GB/T50708-2012), with the method of symbolic cyclic equation in MATLAB to infer this material bearing capacity formula.Finally, this article infers the constitutive model of LVL transversely isotropic with assistance in the composite material mechanics, the constitutive model encompasses both the constitutive equation in elastic stage and after the elastic stage brittle destruction damage evolution equation, plastic development flow rule, plastic yield hardening rule. On the basis, LVL eccentrically compressed column has the finite element simulation using ABAQUS, has drawn conclusions of the simulation results with experimental results match. It is very important to LVL materials in structural promotion.
