Laser weapon in the fight against the target, and the surface of the material will be a violent interaction, mainly through the thermal damage to the target to achieve the target, the laser weapon protection requirements become increasingly urgent, laser protection material selection and structural design is the key. Laser protection mechanism involves reflection, ablation and heat insulation, these materials are more, material selection and coupling structure design can not be achieved through experiment one one, simulation has become a priority. But there are few reports about the laser protection materials, structure and laser parameters, and many protective effects and protective abilities are not clear. In this paper, by using numerical simulation method to calculate the temperature field of materials with different composition, different structures and different laser conditions, the temperature distribution of the coating and the substrate is analyzed, and the theoretical basis is provided for the design and selection of laser protective materials.In this paper, finite element simulation is used to study the influence of different coating compositions and layers on the temperature field. Firstly, different materials are selected as the function layer, which is reflected by several elements of laser protection. By controlling the variable, adjusting the proportion of the coating material and the layer number, the optimum design of the coating structure was finally obtained. Then the coating structure was simulated under different laser parameters to measure the laser protection capability, and the protective coating was prepared by plasma spraying. The actual laser irradiation test was carried out to obtain the back temperature curve, the temperature rising rule and the protection ability. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:(1) by the early laser irradiation experiments on individual materials, that is to have a high reflectivity of metal materials Al, Cu, Ag laser experiments, found in the infrared band three reflectivity at the same thickness of Ag showed the best laser protection effect, it is determined that the reflective layer material is Ag.(2) the structure of the coating system is three layers of design: from the outside to the inside in order to have a high reflectivity of silver coating, thermal grooming of the excellent aluminum coating and YSZ coating with high thermal insulation of the three layer design, the coating has a good resistance to light protection effect.Under the optimum coating structure design scheme, it is able to resist the laser beam spot diameter 10 cm, the laser irradiation time 5S, the laser power density 1000w/cm2 large size laser beam irradiation.
